Another round of my favorite video game reviewer - doing a Wii Game (Super Smash Brothers)

As always, language is probably not work appropriate.

Atlanta

I didn't manage to get out with my camera but one night in Atlanta - here's a couple of the better ones:

The view from the room

Inside the hotel I stayed at (Embassy Suites)

Buckhead, Atlanta was filled with great cars; then again taking a good looking pictures of an Austin Martin isn't very hard.

Oh, how I hate to eat my own words....

So as some of you know a week ago we had "man day". It was our version of a baby shower I guess for Jeremiah; kind of a last little bit of irresponsibleness before responsibility sets in. Unfortunately, when nerds go CRAZY they do stuff like Magic The Gathering, Rock Band, Shadowrun, and Frisbee Golf. (yes, that deserves a bold, you'll see why in a sec).

Anyways, the days actually started out at Hooters, since - well, it was Man Day. Jason and I ended up sharing two pitchers of beer, and by 2pm as we wondered through Sports Authority we actually thought that it might be a possibility, mid afternoon, to get ourselves kicked out of a sporting store. The day started good.

After we cleared out of the sports store and got home, we decided it was time for Frisbee Golf (we were at the sports store, buying Frisbees, because we're nerds and do not own much and/or any sports equipment). Of course, I being drunk, decided that just playing wasn't going to be fun enough.

Oh no, Mr. Competitive decided we had to put something on the line. No one liked the idea of cash (maybe because someone at the party just spend 500 grand on a house?); so I came up with the brilliant idea of...

Loser has to post their bare ass.. on my blog.

I lost.

Oh, this is not a proud moment.

Co-workers and family that do not care to see this, I will give you ample time to move onto another website

Off to Atlanta

I'm sure I'll have some photos - and maybe if I'm bored in the Hotel I'll have some updated blogs from there, but for this week I'm down in Atlanta and a National Association of Bond Lawyers (NABL) Muni Bond law seminar. No clue how I'm going to manage my weight goals with Man-day & Atlanta trip back to back. Going to be a rough end to the month.

Oh, you know you're jealous.

"The Mind"

I always have enjoyed listening to how Jesse Ventura takes topics on; specifically any Fake, rr Fox News guys.

And I know there have been plenty of experts one way or another on the whole 9/11 conspiracy, but always interesting to hear a Ex-Navy SEAL explosives specialist weigh in.

I also wish that the American public had longer than a 6 minute attention span. Sure would have been nice to see a 15-20 minute interview. Oh well. Such is the case in a medicated society I guess.

Office Decoration?

I'm always told I need to decorate my office....

Canada Trip

As I started this post, I seriously thought that it was just this last weekend (yes 2 days ago) that I went to Canada - but in fact its been over 10 days.

I then figured since it had been 10 days, I must have thrown my pictures up on my blog - which I found I had not. So obviously I'm both losing my mind and becoming lazy. Wonderful.

Anyways - Alex joined me on the trip up to the geek party that was planned mid weekend in Canada, and I can say it truly was a good time, and truly was a geek party. I mean when was the last time the windows fogged up in your apartment and the fundamental theory of calculus appeared on it...:

Yes, so we are nerds, geeks or whatever. But you remember how you used to hear in high school, "Be careful, that nerd will be your boss some day.", or "Geeks rule the world." Well, I think we're closing in on some of those statments being very true. This is the view out of that same fogged up window:

And this is a 5000x1200 panoramic off their balcony

So, anyways nerd stuff commenced, great food was had and we all had a great time:

Oh..

it snowed.

Rally Argentina!

Non-Argentina news first: Kristy (from the Resolution Challenge) has just released her first news letter (marketing plan part 1). Just doing my part to promote her. ;-) Though, hard to make sense out of using a 50% off coupon when I have to drive 5 hrs and take a ferry to get there.

(don't blame me if this link doesn't work - I'm attempted to use a new "beta" service)
April 2008 Newsletter

Anyways - onto Rally Argentina!

This is a rally that is known for its huge water crossings - and probably images you've seen without knowing where they came from. A little bit different this year is that the rally is being run a couple months earlier in the season, which lead to some horrendous weather, super muddy conditions, and even bigger water crossings.

It was interesting to hear the championship leader, and 3 time champion Loeb actually "whine" about how difficult (and "dangerous") one of the stages due to the mud and tire rules. Then about 3 cars later, Petter Solberg (lead driver for Subaru) comes through with a huge ass grin on his face talking about how much fun he just had.

On top of the mud and bigger water crossings - a couple of the stages were immensely socked in with fog. So much so it when watching some of the onboard cameras its hard to even see where they are going (at over 100mph).

Anyways - a youtube vidoe, followed by the torrent links

Saturday Night Fun:

What could be better than good music?

How about good music, live. For Free.

If you're remotely interested in their sound - Windowpane is doing an acoustic show 9pm in Kirkland for free (They are doing on Friday too, but I'm playing softball). Their last acoustic show was obscenely impressive (so much so they schedule these two additional encores).

Anyways. Go.

(For those that want to car pool, sorry - I have movie and dinner plans pre-concert)

Unexpected Fun

So, when an attractive woman walks into my office and asks, "Are you busy tonight.", lets just say normally I'm skeptical.

Hah, what am I saying, that's only ever happened once - and it was yesterday.

The end result - great ticket to a Mariners game:

Have to say, was a great way to spend a random Wednesday evening. Of course, this 7:30am conference call is a bit blurry.

Resolution Challenge 2008 - Month 4

I'm going to make this as quick and as concise as possible, as I'm attempting to get 4 posts done and eat lunch in 30 minutes.

Bryce
I was supposed to lose 1 pound (down to 162.8), blog and go out to some bars. Nearing the end of the month I actually was as low as 159.4; but a trip up to Vancouver ruined that and I barely came in under - at 162.2.

As for the blogs, there was some slight drama (hah, who knew when you put $100 per point there'd be drama) about what is require by the 'blogging' requirement. I personally thought my blog in post #200 was enough - the group did not. Luckily I also briefly hit on weight & working out later in the month.

So for future blogging points - it is require that you blog about the whole challenge - not just working out and not just the "life" part. Fun stuff.

3 out of 3 points

For April: Hit some more bars / entertainment, get down to 161.2, and blog about the WHOLE challenge at least once.

Doug
March: Get to 248.2 lbs, keep the blog going, and get phase 1 of 4 done in the kitchen.

His kitchen plan is up and phase 1 is done. He weighed in at 246. Major point jump for Mr. Doug.

5 out of 3 points (his kitchen was on a quarter plan, so for getting the plan and finishing phase 1, he gets January, February, and March points)

For April: Get to 244, keep the kitchen stuff going, and blog about the WHOLE challenge at least once.

Kristy
March: Working out, Blogging, and Continue with the marketing plan

Blog was up (about her workout), workouts were done and deliver the first round draft of her marketing plan to the group.

3 out of 3 points

For April: Workout, continue with the marketing plan, and blog about the WHOLE challenge at least once.

Tow
March: Get to 171, get a blog up, and go on another photo trip

He made is 171 and blogged. Now he didn't get the photo hike / trip done, but he's on trimesters with that goal because of the weather he wanted to be able to do more hikes in the middle of the year (but average 1 hike per month).

2 out of 3 points - but with the ability to get 4 out of 3 next month if he completes his hikes

For April: Get to 170, go on 3 photo hikes and blog about the WHOLE challenge at least once.
